Ten films by people from Birmingham which are based on music from Karlheinz Stockhausen’s visionary work Mittwoch aus Licht (Wednesday from Light). Stockhausen dreamed of helicopters flying, freedom and made it happen. These film-makers do the same. Watch Chadwick Jackson’s film. “I am from Birmingham and enjoy many aspects of film-making. I am hoping to study film in London next year. I love films, particularly documentary and feature films. I really liked the music when I first listened to it and am looking forward to creating a short film inspired by it. When I first heard the music, the images that initially came to mind were – shopping trolley and a flickering light bulb. It made me think of a journey, potentially the journey of a man in his life.” These 10 films are a collaboration between the film-makers, Birmingham Opera Company and Ember Television.

Rock, Paper, Scissors explores the relationship between Politics/Rock, Paper/Press and Scissors/Financial Sector over a game, but this take a turn for the worst when the politician makes a change of plan last minute and upsets the dynamics of the game, which cause mass uproar. All the members of the game retreat into submission of The Three Wise Monkeys. Hear No Evil, See No Evil and Speak No Evil. The music of the train track was chosen as it signifying the developing tension between the players. It also act as a commentary to the recent rail line debates.
